Dimapur, Jan. 24: The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU) has appealed the department of School Education to release the 8-month pending salary of CSS Hindi teachers before February, while issuing a warning that it will take its own course of action to protect their fundamental rights.
In a press release issued today, the Union said on October 20, 2016, the CSS Hindi teachers had started agitation for the state government’s inability to play their salary and subsequently walked out from class on October 30.
A meeting was also conducted at the residence of the Education minister along with CSS teachers and ANHTU, wherein it was decided that all CSS Hindi teachers will join the class from November 1, 2016, if the demand for release of their salary was fulfilled.
However, as the demand for salary was not fulfilled, a representation was given to the director of School Education in which the teacher threatened to go on strike from November 22.
The Union stated that on November 16, the director of School Education convened a meeting with ANHTU and CSS executive members wherein it was decided that the department will try with every possible effort to address their pending salaries within December 2016. But till date no action has been taken for payment of salaries of 1379 CSS Hindi teachers.
