IMPHAL — After closing down for more than two months in view of the ongoing ethnic violence, all higher secondary schools in Manipur will resume classes from August 10 onwards.
Director of Education (Schools), L Nandakumar Singh in an order issued on August 7, directed all zonal education officers under the Department of Education (Schools) to take up necessary actions for resumption of classes.
There are 1229 schools in Manipur having Class IX to XII run by different managements. The order for resumption of schools will not be applicable to 28 schools which are currently involved in relief measures, the order stated.
“Separate order for resumption of these schools will be issued later. Adequate compulsory measures will be taken up for the students of these schools so as to prevent any learning loss,” it added.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It may be noted that the state government has collected the number of students who were displaced due to the recent law and order problem in the state. The total number of school children (pre-primary to class XII) who are presently staying in the relief camps is 4747.
Earlier, the Directorate of Education (Schools) announced resumption of normal classes for all the schools in the state from June 21, but it was deferred and normal classes from for Class 1 to 8 resumed from July 5, with low attendance.
All the schools in Manipur were closed from May 4 onwards after the announcement of summer vacation from May 4 to the 30th and the issuance of subsequent orders in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the state.
