Diphu, July 23 (EMN): In order to get privileges like other places in the region and avail better telecom services, Helping Hands Society organised a signature campaign to pressurise the completion of BSNL telecom network in Amri constituency.
One of the member of the society Binolin Phangchopi informed this reporter that the campaign has been kicked off from July 15 onwards and will end on July 25.
The ongoing campaign was participated by almost every villages of Amri Development block. Phangchopi said, we need telecommunication and internet services in Langerdang, Umswai consisting of 21 villages and Umpanai, Amkachi Roman, Birsingki, Ulukunchi ,Rongjangphong, Kungripi and areas of West karbi Anglong where more than 42,102 population reside in Amri Development Block with no connection to the outside world. Digital India is a nightmare for us.
She further said ‘with telecom and power connectivity, we can encourage the rural development and support students to gain knowledge connectivity, electronic connectivity in the form of reliable telecom, internet and IT service.’ We need a constructive approach to solve these problems with the participation of local community, local leaders at the grass roots level. One BSNL tower has been installed in Ulukunchi which is also under process, added Binolin.
Villagers including both young and old said “we demand quick completion of BSNL Telecom communication in Amri Constituency and to release the network immediately.”
Many parents said that we have to send our children outside into the town and cities as we do not have network in our region. People have to climb up the nearby mountains to make a phone call to family and friends.
For speedy completion of the work, ‘I on behalf of the Amri constituency humbly request the Hills Area Development (HAD) Minister Sum Ronghang and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang to take action and look into the matter’ she said.
