Diphu, May 4 (EMN): As weather forecast predicted climatic conditions in the Northeast are experiencing heavy rains coupled with cyclonic storms.
Diphu district in Karbi Anglong of Assam experienced a bad storm on May 4 Friday during which houses and properties were damaged.
Villages including Achom Kimi, Rongmonjir, and Checharlangso, and some other parts of Diphu town were severely affected by the storm.
A house at Agriculture colony was badly affected when a tree fell on it. The resident, Sarat Deka, said that his mother, who was in the kitchen, escaped unhurt.
The storm also hit the newly opened Secretariat building of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council damaging the building.
At Diphu Civil Hospital, three parked vehicles were damaged when a large tree fell on the garage. Because of the heavy rain, power cut is being experienced in many parts of the district.
No case of injury or casualty have been reported till the filing of this report.
