Dimapur, July 6: Weather forecast has predicted heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram in the next 24 hours.
According to Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy showers might continue for at least the next one week. It has attributed the reason for these rains to a cyclonic circulation that is marked over Assam. Also, humid southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal are increasing moisture over Northeast states.
The intensity of the ongoing rains is expected to increase gradually under the influence of these systems, it forecast.
“Assam has been seeing moderate to heavy rains since the last few days now. The rest of Northeast India is also observing scattered rains. Almost all the states of Northeast India are running rain deficient with the cumulative rainfall deficiency of East and Northeast India for the season lying close to 39%.
“The two Northeast states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam are deficient by 41% and 30% respectively. However, as a silver lining to the cloud, these upcoming rains might bring down the rain deficiency over these states to some extent,” read the update.
