DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has forecasted thunderstorms, lightning, and rain in different parts of the state from August 27 to the 30th.

According to the bulletin, Nagaland will witness thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in several areas until August 30. On that day, districts including Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Wokha are likely to experience moderate intermittent rainfall.

The NSDMA cautioned that lowland and foothill districts such as Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli are vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods due to heavy precipitation in the hill sectors.

People are also urged to disconnect and raise electrical appliances above ground level, boil drinking water or use chlorinated water, and remain alert to open drains and flood channels.

The NSDMA has further directed all district disaster management authorities and line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
