
Resource persons and participants during a training on
routine immunisation at District Hospital in Zunheboto town on Wednesday.
- DIMAPUR — The
Zunheboto District Health Society (DHS) conducted training on routine
immunisation (RI) manual for healthcare workers and medical officers at the
conference hall of District Hospital, Zunheboto, on Wednesday.
- An update from the office of the chief medical officer
(CMO), Zunheboto, stated that the training was facilitated by Kingson Kamkara,
senior project officer of UNDP, and Imli Longkumer, project officer of UNDP, as
the resource persons with support from the district team including Dr. HetoSwu,
DPO (UIP & RCH), and Dr. Gihuka, medical officer of PHC Atoizu.
- The training covered key topics such as roles and
responsibilities of healthcare workers and medical officers, the national
immunisation schedule and frequently asked questions. Participants also
received training on micro planning, cold chain and vaccine management, safe
injection practices and biomedical waste disposal.
- A session on adverse events following immunisation (AEFI)
focused on managing post-vaccination complications and hands-on demonstrations
on immunisation were conducted by the state team.
- Discussions also covered vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD),
data management, communication strategies and supervision and monitoring of
immunisation activities. Additionally, participants were introduced to U-WIN, a
digital platform for immunization tracking.
- The training concluded with a post-test and feedback
session, ensuring participants gained essential knowledge and skills to improve
immunisation services in the district.
- Participants included medical officers, community health
officers (CHO), nurses, lady health visitors (LHV) and staff from DPMU and
BPMU. The training was aimed at enhancing the capacity of healthcare
professionals to deliver effective immunisation services across the district.
- In a related programme, a district-level training on routine
immunisation manual for healthcare workers was held at the conference hall of
the CMO’s office in Mokokchung on Wednesday with Dr. Limanaro, DPO (UIP &
RCH), Dr. Mhechekhro Mero, consultant of WHO (RRT), and Achila C, VCCM, as
resource persons.
