Healthcare workers in Wokha trained on DAKSHATA
District-level training on DAKSHATA for healthcare workers was conducted at the conference hall of District Hospital (DH) in Wokha from March 5 to the 7th.

- WOKHA — District-level
training on DAKSHATA for healthcare workers was conducted at the conference
hall of District Hospital (DH) in Wokha from March 5 to the 7th.
- An update from the office of the chief medical officer
(CMO), Wokha, stated that the training began with welcome address delivered by
Dr. Mhonchan Kithan, medical superintendent at DH Wokha, wherein he called upon
the healthcare workers to equip themselves with knowledge on safe labour room
practices and perform their duty sincerely at the health facilities.
- The resource persons of the training were Dr. Benchumi
Humtsoe, medical officer (Obs & Gynae) at DH Wokha, and Sorenpeni Lotha,
community health officer (CHO) at Pongitong Health and Wellness Centre.
- Dr. Humtsoe explained that DAKHSATA stands for ‘skill’ and
its primary goal was to empower healthcare workers with evidence-based
practices for maternity care during labour and delivery to reduce maternal and
neonatal mortality.
- During the three-day training, session on quality care in
labour room, stages of labour, safe childbirth checklist, monitoring vitals,
partograph, care of mother and newborn immediately after delivery, newborn
infections, safe delivery application etc. were taken by the resource persons.
Practical demonstration on normal delivery, ENBC and newborn resuscitation were
also conducted.
- Medical officers, community health officials, ANM and staff
nurses from various health centres in the district attended the training.
- At the valedictory function, Mhonbeni Ezung, district
programme manager, thanked the resource persons for sharing their valuable
insights on labour practices to the healthcare workers. She expressed hope that
the training would immensely help the healthcare workers in the district.
