Dimapur, March 8 (EMN): Nagaland health project (NHP) with support from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, conducted block-wise trainings on bio-medical waste management (BMWM) from February 27 to March 8.
A press release from the CMO office stated that the trainings were conducted to orient the health workers of all government health facilities under CMO, Dimapur, in managing bio-medical wastes in their respective health facilities.
Dr. Antoly Suu, deputy CMO and resource person, gave a brief introduction on bio-medical waste, its importance, and how to manage them. She further oriented the trainees on the rules and regulation under BMWM.
Vethipralu Lohe, DPM, quality assurance and resource person, oriented the trainees on the segregation, collection, storage and transportation of bio-medical wastes. She also emphasised on the importance of personal protection and the use of protective equipment while handling bio-medical waste.
She further oriented the trainees on various BMWM treatments and disposal technologies. She urged them to implement BMWM in their respective health facilities to prevent and control infections.
The release stated that staff from 57 government health facilities participated in the BMWM trainings. Other official present during the trainings were Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, CMO Dimapur, and staff under DPMU Nagaland health project, Dimapur.
