Dimapur, Feb. 6 (EMN): Healthcare service providers comprising of village health councils, primary health centres and sub-centres in Longleng district were sensitised on the benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme which aims at improving access to quality healthcare and to reduce expenditure on hospitalisation thereby protecting beneficiary families belonging to poor and lower section of the society.
Health workers were imparted the knowledge during a one-day sensitisation workshop on Ayushman Bharat and Health and Wellness Centres organised by District Health Society, Longleng, in the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO), Longleng, held on February 6.
In a keynote address, Dr. Imnameren Phom, DPO (RCH/UIP), stated that the government and the medical department needed constant help and assistance from the village councils and the village health committees for better implementation of any programme. He also encouraged them to take ownership in their respective villages and to co-ordinate for any kind work assigned to them.
Dr. Imnameren Phom also spoke on Ayushman Bharat scheme, which aims at improving access to quality healthcare and to reduce expenditure on hospitalisation thereby protecting beneficiary families belonging to poor and lower section of the society. He requested everyone to provide correct and detail information while registering for the Ayushman Bharat so that they may enjoy the benefits of the insurance provided by the government in future.
Further stated He added that the scheme could be availed from any of the empanelled public or private hospitals across the country.
In a welcome address, medical superintendent Dr. Toshirenla, encouraged the members to take upon the opportunity on priority and work together for the betterment of the village and the society as a whole. Dr. Toshirenla also requested them to contribute towards the health and wellness centre stating that it is only for the good of the public.
She was confident that with the health and wellness centre in their villages, sicknesses could be identified at the initial stage and also administered timely treatment in their own villages.
Viroli Sangtam, district programme manager, gave a brief introduction on health and wellness centre, which was later on shown through a power point presentation. He spoke on the internal and external branding, about where to paste the posters once the building is completed, about the variation of funds for each sub centres, how to utilise the funds, about the number of rooms needed in the health and wellness centre, etc.
He further encouraged the village councils to help and assist and village health committees.
Village council chairmen, village health committees of Tangha village, Yangching village, and Buranamsang village attended the sensitisation programme. Staff from CMO office, medical officer from primary health centres also attended the programme.
