Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): CHILDLINE Dimapur organised a sensitisation programme with the medical staff of District Hospital Dimapur on May 26 at District Hospital chapel hall with the participation of nurses and doctors of the hospital.
The programme aims to reach out to the medical staff with the role of hospital and the staff on medical examination of a child as per Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO) 2012, Chapter VI of section 27. “No medical practitioner, hospital or other medical facility centre rendering emergency medical care to a child victim shall demand and legal or magisterial requisition or other documentation as a pre-requisite to render such care as per POCSO Act 2012,” stated K Ela Collab, Director of CHILDLINE Dimapur, Prodigals’ Home. She also spoke on the legal provision, emergency medical care, medical examination, role of medical professionals, technique to help child relax and role of medical professional as expert
witness.
She also gave suggestion on creating child friendly hospital in the District Hospital Dimapur like the child friendly corner in the Women Police Station, Dimapur.
The District Hospital Dimapur could be a model and other districts could replicate the same. Some suggestions for the Child friendly hospital were put up to be further discussed with the hospital
authority.
