Minister for Health & Family Welfare, P Longon, said that ‘absenteeism’ of medical and health personnel will not be ‘tolerated’ by the government. He told personnel of healthcare institutions in Phek and Kiphire districts that shirking duties would be ‘seriously viewed’.
The politicians undertook his maiden visit to the districts of Phek and Kiphire districts on June 4 and the 5th, in that order.The minister was accompanied by various departmental officials including the commissioner & Secretary for Health & Family Welfare, and principal director. The team visited Pfutsero community health center, Phek District Hospital, Meluri community health center, and Kiphire District Hospital.
Interacting with the doctors, nurses and medical staff members in all the places they visited, Longon expressed ‘respect’ for the medical personnel. However, the minister said that ‘absenteeism will be seriously viewed’.
He exhorted to the medical staffers to be more dedicated, sincere, and ‘honest’ in undertaking their professional duties and ‘impartially’. He advised them to ‘keep in mind their call of duty professionally assigned to them’.
The politician also met with patients of the healthcare centers and wished them speedy recovery.
