- DIMAPUR — The
district health societies of Mokokchung, Wokha, and Longleng conducted block
health melas across various locations, offering crucial healthcare services to
underserved communities.
- In Mokokchung, the melas were held at the Mangkolemba and
Tuli blocks on March 28, implemented at the health centres of Saring and Yajang
A, catering to the needs of the community, according to a press release.
- The health mela enabled the community to access various
health services, such as general medicine, dental, ophthalmic, and on-site
laboratory tests. Focused group discussions (FGDs) and interpersonal
counselling were also conducted with eligible couples and children on topics
such as family planning, child health, maternal health, and adolescent health
during the health mela.

- A total of 222 people from the community availed themselves
of the services provided during the health mela.
- In Wokha, under the aegis of the Department of Health and
Family Welfare, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society
(IRCS) Wokha, a mela was held at Old Ralan on March 28.
- Dr. Zumomo Ovung, Secretary of IRCS Wokha, spoke on the
occasion about the objective of initiating the health camp at Old Ralan. On
behalf of the IRCS Wokha, Dr. Zumomo handed a cash amount to 20
below-poverty-line families and items to the Children’s Home Mission at Ralan.
- Addressing the attendees, Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton, District
Programme Officer (RCH&UIP) Wokha, said the target of the health system is
prevention, and immunisation is an important aspect of disease prevention. She
also urged the community to focus on health awareness and emphasised the
importance of ante-natal check-ups.
