Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): The District Health Society under Chief Medical Officer, Phek organised a one-day health mela at Akhegwo village under Meluri Block on April 27.
“The main objectives of the mela was to provide health care services to the hard-to-reach area and disseminate information and give awareness on various health issues covering all health programmes, different facilities and services available, incentives for mothers and ASHAs, etc.,” read a statement from District Media Officer Phek.
A total of 217 patients availed free check-up and medicines during the camp. Besides identifying and vaccinating drop outs children and those who missed immunisation programme, services like Ante-Natal Check up (ANC), Post-Natal Check up (PNC) and family planning services were also provided at the mela.
IEC/BCC activities through focus group discussion with different target groups on different health issues were carried out by DPM, DCM and different vertical programmes, and nutritional package (eggs) was given to all the pregnant women. Test for HIV/AIDS and malaria, collection of sputum, HB% estimation for all ANC cases and deworming were also done at the mela.
There was visual screening on different health topics during the programme and AB-PMJAY beneficiary identification system (BIS) drive was also carried out.
The health mela was conducted by a team of doctors from different specialities such as
gynaecologist and physician from the district hospital, programme officers along with nurses, lap- technicians, counsellor, VCCM and DPMU staff led by deputy Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Officer Phek.
301 OPD registered at Shamator town
The district health society (DHS), Health & Family Welfare, Tuensang organised a one-day health mela at Shamator town, shamator block on April 26. People from Waphur, Sangphur, Chassier and Leangkiur Shamator villages and Shamator town availed medical services during the camp.
A total of 301 OPD were registered; 24 dental extractions and 31 blood tests on malaria were carried out during the camp, according to a statement issued by the office of Chief Medical Officer, Tuensang. IEC materials on pregnancy test-kit, family planning, JSY/JSSK, non-communicable disease in the local dialect were also distributed.
CMO, IEC team and DCM also conducted three sessions of FGD/IPC at PHC shamator, Leangkonger and Shamator villages on the importance of family planning, child health and maternal health materials. School health team led by SHP coordinator along with two health assistants visited three schools and gave talks on cleanliness and 4Ds to around 2500 students.
The health mela at Shamator town was done by a medical team led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. T. Pangjung Sangtam and deputy CMO Dr. I. Temsu longchar along with five medical officers, seven nurses, different vertical programmes, two FWAs, district coordinator PM-JAY and DPMU staff.
