Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DH&FW) bade farewell to outgoing Principal Director Dr. Nandira Changkija, Additional Director Dr. Narola Ao, Deputy Director (Nursing) Dr. Tepuhosule, Health Education Officer (IEC) Kevichol Sale, and two staff drivers on January 30.
The farewell programme was chaired by Dr. NM Kithan, Director (Health), while farewell speeches were delivered by the Commissioner and Secretary, M Patton, and the incoming Principal Director, Dr. Sukhato Sema.
M Patton, in his speech, said much transition in a span of one year due to superannuation within the department has brought about lot of difficulties not only in the Directorate but also in the Secretariat. He congratulated all the retirees and said retirement from service is not the end but a new beginning.
Dr. Nandira Changkija, outgoing Principal Director, and other outgoing officers and staff were lauded and congratulated for their services rendered with dedication and sincerity. Dr. Nandira Changkija, lady with the iron fist in the department, was much lauded by all the well wishers and officers as the most charismatic, experienced, influential, intelligent, outspoken, and perhaps one of the best gynaecologists in the State during her time.
Dr. Sukhato Sema lauded Dr. Nandira for her immense initiation in bringing World Bank aided Nagaland Health project in the department.
The outgoing Principal Director exhorted from her experiences that we should learn and discover the differences and peculiarities of everything and consider everyone we meet in life as a teacher and learn something from them.
Invocation was pronounced by Dr. R Rose Chakesang and the benediction was said by Dr. Hotokhu Chishi.

A farewell programme was organised in honour of outgoing Director of Higher Education, Chubatola Longkumer, on January 30 in the conference hall of the Directorate of Higher Education.
Addressing the programme, Chubatola expressed gratitude to the Department and the principals of various Government Colleges for organizing and attending her farewell programme. Terming the occasion as a day of counting God’s blessing, she thanked God for the years of service to the people. Stating that Higher Education has many challenges, among which academic expansion is the most important, she hoped that the challenges would be met under the new Director of the Department. She also called on the principals, officers and staff of the Department to continue working for the betterment of the students and to focus on the younger students who would one day be leaders.
Congratulating the outgoing Director, Parliamentary Secretary of Higher & Technical Education, Deo Nukhu, said that many do not reach the level of a HoD. He, therefore, the outgoing Director should give thanks to God for giving her good health to attain superannuation. He also encouraged her to continue her contributions to the society with the beginning of a new chapter in her life. He described Chubatola as punctual and a dedicated officer.
The Parliamentary Secretary also welcomed the incoming Director, I Alempokba, and hoped that the Department would continue achieving greater heights.
Principal of Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha, Dr. Apeni Lotha, and the Additional Director Higher Education, I Alempokba, delivered short speeches. The programme was chaired by Secretary of Higher & Technical Education, Imjung M Panger. A special song was also presented by the officers and staff of Higher Education.
