Health department reviews handling of dengue cases in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — To review the activities undertaken to prevent the spread of dengue as well as discuss measures to be adopted to tackle the rising cases in Nagaland, Commissioner and Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, V. Kezo convened a meeting of the State Task Force Team on Vector Borne and Other Communicable Diseases at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima on Friday.

An update from the Health department informed that the meeting was attended by senior officers from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare and representatives from allied departments.

Highlighting the issues and experiences of high surge of dengue cases in Mon and Dimapur districts this year, Kezo urged all the departments to brace up for 2024 and be more proactive.

He also told the gathering that an intensive awareness campaign is needed in Mon district, for which he requested all the allied departments to share their ideas and inputs; to co-ordinate and work out plan to enhance preparedness.

Former SPO, NVBDCP, Dr. Neisakho Kere gave a detailed presentation on dengue, including district-wise cases, activities conducted and ongoing, as well as potential roles of various departments and agencies in tackling the rise of dengue cases, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
