Health department organises awareness camp in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR — The National Programme on Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) and National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Zunheboto, conducted a medical camp-cum-awareness programme on non-communicable disease and oral cancer at Khuwaboto Prayer Fellowship (KPF) on April 16.

An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, stated that more than 170 beneficiaries availed the facilities. It informed that a total of 48 beneficiaries were screened for oral cancer, while 30 beneficiaries availed tooth extraction and 41 beneficiaries availed eye checkups.

The medical team comprised of Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan, NCD district programme officer, and Dr. Esther Ngullie, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital Zunheboto, along with Dr. Tohito H Achumi (Orthopaedics) and staff from NCD, NLEP and NOHP.

It added that awareness talks on NCD and oral cancer were also given by the medical officers during the medical camp.

Meanwhile, Hotopu Yeptho, deacon of Khuwaboto Prayer Fellowship, Zunheboto, has expressed gratitude to the medical team for taking the initiative and organising the free medical camp.
