
Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton, along with medical staff and
participants at the health awareness programme held at Longsachung village,
Wokha, on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — The
Medical department, Wokha, in collaboration with the district administration,
organised health awareness programmes at Aree Old village and Longsachung
village on March 12 and 13.
- In a press statement, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, Chief Medical
Officer of Wokha, said the activities were organised under the initiative of DC
Wokha Vineet Kumar to spread awareness on various diseases, immunisation, the
importance of ante-natal check-ups, and health insurance schemes among the
rural communities.
- He also expressed sincere gratitude to the village community
leaders for extending their support in conducting the programmes.
- During the awareness programmes at Aree Old village and
Longsachung village, the medical team was led by Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton,
District Immunisation Officer of Wokha. She spoke on reproductive and child
health and immunisation.
- Dr. Benchumi Humtsoe, Medical Officer (Obs and Gynae) at
District Hospital Wokha, informed the participants on the importance of
ante-natal check-ups and family planning. Medical staff from various vertical
programmes also shared information on topics such as malaria, HIV&AIDS,
tuberculosis, oral health, non-communicable diseases, and the Chief Minister’s
Health Insurance Scheme.
- The awareness programme at Aree Old village was chaired by
Dr. Pithungo Kikon, chairman of the HCMC, and at Longsachung by Chenio Ezung,
vice chairman of the village health committee. Health screening was conducted
after the programme. Furthermore, information, education, and communication
(IEC) materials were distributed to participants by district IEC staff.
- Meanwhile, the District Health Society of Tuensang conducted
a one-day training on the MO handbook under routine immunisation for health
workers from various health units in Tuensang district at the CMO conference
hall in Tuensang on Thursday.
- According to an update, the resource persons for the
training were Deputy Director Dr. GR Rio and RPO, UNDP, Rajesh K Monsang.
- Dr. Rio highlighted the targets and achievements within ten
months, from April 2024 to January 2025, regarding full immunisation, Tuensang
district HMIS, block-wise full immunisation, and MR-1 coverage.
- Monsang trained the health workers on the importance of the
immunisation schedule, how to enter data in the UWIN app, microplanning
learning objectives, common microplanning issues, the frequency of major RI
activities, master listing of areas including HRAs, sub-centre form-1 to 11,
the five types of UWIN modules, delivery points for modules, and UWIN vaccination
entries for left-out and drop-out cases.
- The training was attended by the DIO (RCH and UIP),
community health officers, GNMs, ANMs, block programme managers, block ASHA
coordinators, and IEC personnel.
