Dimapur, September 15 : Two government school headmasters have raised questions about the selection of the teacher’s award that was announced for this year. While no names were given, a letter from two teachers stated to be at the government high school of Sapotimi in Zunheboto has alleged that a teacher who got said award “has kept his proxy after the award.”
A copy of a letter addressed to the director of School Education was received here on Thursday. Kenneth Jakha and Tokugha Sumi, stated tohave taken charge of said school, appended the letter.
“...while appreciating the decision of the government for awarding best teacher award, it is sudden to say that, the concerned school authority VEC and student’s union has no knowledge of awarding a particular teacher who has been awarded the best teacher in 2016 and the teacher who has been awarded as the best teacher has kept his proxy after the award,” the letter alleged.
The teachers have requested the department “in their future” to consult the school authority in concern, the VEC and the students’ union in concern of a particular area ‘for awarding the best teacher.’
“Tokugha Sumi has been serving as (sic) G.M.S Sapotimi for the past 25 years as headmaster and head teacher till Kenneth Jakha took over the charge of G.H.S in 2016 after the government took over as Government High School Sapotomi. But two are surprise (sic) we have not consulted for the teacher who has been awarding the best teacher award from our school,” the letter stated.
“Therefore, we would like to request the department for thorough investigation in the above case and to take necessary action to the concern officials until and unless the department doesn’t investigate this case and find out who is the A.H.M of G.H.S Sapotimi. Shri.Kenneth Jakha and Shri.Tokugha Sumi will not take charge of the school, but will perform their duty as a teacher which they will to deprive their students,” it added.
