About 40 primary schools in Athibung subdivision under Peren district are facing difficulties from lack of textbooks, a students’ organization has said.
The Kuki Students’ Organization of Nagaland issued a press release on Friday stating that the students are facing a ‘setback.’
The organization stated: ‘It is a matter of grave concern that the bulk of the government primary schools in Athibung area comprising of around 40 schools are deprived of text books even after the schools are running for more than two months which is not only discouraging but also a major setback for the students as well as the teachers.’
Stating that no school can run without text books “which is the basic necessity” the organization has asked education authorities to act on the matter immediately.
‘(The organization) undersigned fervently beseech the concerned department to look into the plight of the aforesaid schools with utmost seriousness and do the needful at the earliest with great concern towards the effected schools in particular and for the welfare of the students in general.’
The press release was appended by the KSON’s president Paotinsei, and its education secretary H Singsit.
