KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 17: Head Hunters advanced to the quarters of the ongoing Classic Cup tournament with their victory against Adroit Boys, Sechü Zubza, via tie-breaker.
The match headed for tie-breaker as both the teams were locked in a goalless draw until the end of the stipulated time.
Head Hunters successfully converted all the first four spot kicks to emerge as the winner, while Neikhotso Nagi and Seimong missed the target for Adroit Boys.
During the match, both the teams had their share of scoring opportunities, but they failed to capitalise it to their advantage.
Head Hunters proved out to be the better team in the field with majority ball possession and tactics. They (Head Hunters) got ample of opportunities to score in both the intervals, but goalkeeper of Adroit Boys Rajusituo Nagi, who performed exceptionally well, kept frustrating them all throughout the match.On a number of occasions, the players of the Head Hunters came on a one-on-one with the keeper, but the keeper managed to save all of the attempts of Head Hunters which could have easily found the net.
Playing the first match of the day here at Kohima local ground, Elite FC defeated Boys FC by a solitary goal to enter the round of last eight.
The lone goal was scored by Khagatar in the 31st minute, which was enough to take Elite FC to the quarterfinal.
The match between Elite FC and Boys FC turned out to be bitter as both the teams played aggressively.
One player each from both the teams, Henser of Elite FC and Asezo Keditsu of Boys FC, were shown the red card for unsporting behaviour. They both were given the expulsion order in the 30th minute.
Elite FC player Aloumei Panmei and Boys FC players Kekhriengulie and Khrielazotuo were also cautioned with yellow cards during the match.
With their respective victories, today, Head Hunters and Elite FC will play against one another in the round of last eight on November 23.
