The Department of Higher Education today bade farewell to its Director Dr Toshiba Echa, who retired on superannuation, at the Conference Hall of the department. Speaking on the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education and SCERT, Deo Nukhu lauded the contribution of the retired director during his service in the department and also for being an inspiration to many students. Stating that many have passed away without reaching their superannuation age, he congratulated the retired director for attaining superannuation. Deo Nukhu appealed the officers and staff of the directorate to emulate the work of the retired director who always speaks the truth and his quality of inspiring the young people in the society. He said Dr. Toshiba is retiring from the department but not from the Naga society and wished him a happy retired life. Commissioner and secretary, Higher and Technical Education, FP Solo in his brief address said every journey begins with a destination in mind. Different roads are used to reach the destination, he said adding what matter most is whether one has successfully reached his/her destination. Dr. Toshiba Echa in his speech acknowledged the staff for the cooperation and support rendered to him during his tenure in the department. Others who spoke on the occasion included Assistant superintendent Shiholi on behalf of ministerial staff, principal of Alder College, Vekhozo Khamo on behalf of Nagaland College Principals’ Forum, principal of Dimapur Government College, Dr Norbert Noraho on behalf of government principals and additional director, Higher Education, C. Khalong. The programme was chaired by joint director of Higher Education Megono Liegise while Principal of Kohima College Kohima, Chubatola Longkumer pronounced the invocation prayer. Assistant professors of Kohima College Kohima, Medongulie and Aien presented a special song.
