Enforcement personnel of Kohima district have started off the week with a good catch that just might keep them motivated throughout. Two persons from Manipur have been arrested after the capital’s enforcement personnel found on Monday approximately 250 kilograms of cannabis in the vehicle the accused were travelling in.
Khumamthem Rajen Singh, 30 years, of Bishenpur in Manipur, and Thenden, 25 years of Sekmai village, under West Imphal of Manipur were arrested on July 13, Monday in Kohima at around 2:45 PM, police authorities said.
Authorities of Kohima police issued a press release on July 13, Monday informing about the arrest.
According to the police, enforcement personnel manning the inter-state check gate in Khuzama near Kohima town made the arrest. The police personnel manning the gate stopped a Tata Mobile (AS-01EC-7409, chassis MAT478012D9D09771, engine 497SP38CWY617450) and on searching it, the authorities found 250 kilograms of ganja, the police said.The enforcement personnel have estimated the worth of the contraband at approximately Rs. 2.50 lakh in the street market.
The cannabis was packed in 25 packages and were hidden in a secret compartment of the Tata Mobile, the police said.
