Handloom and handicraft exhibition underway in Kohima
Organised by NWVTI Handicraft and Handloom Producer Pvt. Ltd., Dimapur, ten-day handloom and handicraft exhibition was inaugurated by Neihunuo Sorhie, recipient of Padma Shri Award

- DIMAPUR — A ten-day handloom and handicraft
exhibition was inaugurated by Neihunuo Sorhie, recipient of Padma Shri Award,
at the State Academy Hall in PR Hill, Kohima, on March 7.
- The exhibition is being organised by NWVTI Handicraft and
Handloom Producer Pvt. Ltd., Dimapur, and sponsored by Development Commissioner
(Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi.
- An update from NWVTI Handicraft and Handloom Producer Pvt.
Ltd., stated that 20 artisans are participating in the exhibition.
- Temjenlemla Jamir, director of NWVTI Handicraft and Handloom
Producer Pvt. Ltd., stated that the exhibition is running successfully by
attracting visitors every day. She stated that the exhibition is a platform for
the artisans to display their products. She further appreciated the sponsoring
department.
- Rajib Chandra Roy, handicraft promotion officer of HSC,
Kohima, also attended the inaugural function.
- Speaking at the inaugural programme, Sorhie stated that she
was impressed with the products displayed by the artisans and encouraged the
participants to create more innovative items to compete at the national and
international markets and to showcase the rich heritage of Nagaland textiles
and handicraft.
- The exhibition would culminate on March 16.
