Kohima, June 12 (EMN): HallyuWave Nagaland observed 'BTS 9th anniversary celebration' at Sokhriezie Restaurant on June 11 in Kohima.
On the occasion, artistes performed dance covers with K-pop music while the gathering cut a cake to mark the anniversary of BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys among other names -- South Korean boy band which has a huge fan following worldwide.
Keneingunuo Ecilia Whuorie, founder of HallyuWave Nagaland, informed that they welcomed and embraced HallyuWave as early as the early 2000’s. However, she said there was no proper channel to promote and know more about or get involved with HallyuWave culture and events.
As such, it was informed that the group came together to form ‘HallyuWave Nagaland’, which is a total package of popular Hallyu Wave entertainment, culture, music, and dramas. "With our tagline ‘Fan-tastic HallyuWave experience’, we have been working continuously to promote and share awareness of Korean wave and culture to the fandoms in Nagaland and beyond," Ecilia said.
She informed that the aim of HallyuWave is to bring out and highlight the skills of talented youths to the maximum and provide a platform to showcase their skills while their main objective is to unite all Hallyu fandoms in Nagaland under one banner.
At present, she said there are 36 fandoms under their wing working on promoting and sharing about KPop happenings and events.
On the day, K-Pop India Contest 2022 Kohima regional round was also screened on YouTube featuring eight performers from Nagaland covering K-pop artistes, with four competing in singing while other four in dancing.
It was informed that the result will be declared on June 15 wherein three singers and three dancers will be picked as winners.
Both the first position holders from singing and dancing contests will further represent Kohima Region in the K-Pop India Contest 2022 scheduled to be held later.
