
Resource persons and others following the workshop at
Hakchang Baptist Church on December 29.
- DIMAPUR — On the occasion of the Hakchang
Citizens' Union’s golden jubilee celebration and the Hakchang Students' Union's
second triennial session, a workshop on "Holistic and critical approaches
to drug abuse and illicit trafficking" was organised in collaboration with
the Tuensang District Legal Service Authority.
- The event took place on December 29 at the Hakchang Baptist
Church, according to an update.
- The panel of resource persons included Advocate Anti
Mangyang, Yongkong Toshi, UBSI - DEF Tuensang, and Alemba H, executive,
Nagaland Users Network.
- The topics covered included the "NDPS (Narcotic Drugs
and Psychotropic Substances) Act 1985," addressed by advocate Anti
Mangyang. Yongkong Toshi, UBSI, spoke on "Drug abuse and illicit
trafficking," while Alemba H from the Nagaland Users Network shared his
personal experiences on "Consequences and recovery”.
- On the occasion, Hakchang village was declared a
"drug-free zone," and a pledge was taken. The pledge was signed by
village representatives, including A B Sadang, village council chairman; C
Yonga, citizens' union president; O Nato, students' union president; Rev. B
Sangbou, pastor of Hakchang Baptist Church; and L Nyemteng, women's
organisation president, in support of extensive remedial measures for this
initiative.
