Governor P B Acharya has expressed pain on the sudden demise of Late Nokzenketba, former Minister of Nagaland at Jorhat on January 5.
“Late Nokzenketba served the people of Nagaland in various capacities as MLA, Minister and Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board, etc. and that he worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the public in general and his constituency Koridang in particular,” the condolence message of the Governor said.
According to Acharya, Nokzenketba was known for his straightforwardness, honesty and diligence. His contributions for the welfare of the people particularly for the downtrodden will be remembered by all. State has lost an honest public leader.
“I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to the Almighty to give strength and courage to overcome the loss,” the Governor’s message added.
In his condolence message, Chotisuh Sazo said the Nagaland Legislative Assembly is shocked to hear the sudden demise of L. Nokzenketba, former Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, on 5th January 2016 at Jorhat after prolonged illness. Son of late Longrinungba of Chungtia village, late L. Nokzenketba was born on September 19, 1948. He was educated at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung. He was elected Member of Legislative Assembly in 1964 from Koridang Assembly Constituency as an Independent Candidate and immediately joined Congress-I Party and appointed as Minister of State; re-elected Member from the same constituency in 1987 and appointed as Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board. In the General Election held in January 1989, he has again been elected from the same Constituency on Congress-I ticket and appointed as Minister for Agriculture.
The contribution made by late L. Nokzenketba as a Parliamentarian is kept in high esteem. His death has caused a great loss to the Nagas in general and Ao community in particular, the message of the Speaker said.
