LUMAMI — Governor of Nagaland and Chief Rector of Nagaland University, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, urged the graduates to embrace life-long learning, ethical leadership and uphold the highest standard of character and professionalism in all their endeavours.
Addressing the 8th convocation ceremony of Nagaland University at Lumami headquarters on March 6, the governor described the convocation as a profound celebration of perseverance, discipline, and the grand pursuit of knowledge.
He congratulated the graduating students for their unwavering determination and hard work, noting that they had successfully completed a significant chapter in their academic journeys.
"You have brought immense pride not only to your families and teachers but also to the entire state of Nagaland," Bhalla said.
He expressed hope that their achievements would contribute meaningfully to the progress of the state and the nation at large.

Highlighting the unique role of Nagaland University—the state's sole central university, the emphasised that it bears a special responsibility as a beacon of higher learning, research, and innovation in the region.
Over the years, he said the varsity has made substantial contributions to academic excellence, research advancement, and human resource development.
The chief rector also commended the vice-chancellor, faculty members, officers, and staff for their steadfast commitment and dedication in nurturing young minds and shaping future leaders and called for collective efforts to elevate Nagaland's higher education institutions.
“Together, we must transform our institutions into a centre of excellence capable of competing at national and global levels, while staying rooted in our unique identity and values," he appealed.
Addressing the graduates directly, Bhalla reminded them that as they step into the wider world, they carry more than just degrees—they bear essential values such as integrity, compassion, and responsibility.
"The knowledge you have acquired here must be used not only for personal success but also for the greater good of society," he urged.
He also pointed to Nagaland's rich cultural heritage and vibrant youth population, expressing confidence that the graduates would emerge as leaders, innovators, and agents of positive change.
In an era marked by rapid technological transformation and pressing global challenges, he stressed the need for creativity, resilience, and ethical leadership.
"The future demands that you remain lifelong learners and uphold the highest standards of character and professionalism in all your endeavours," the governor added.
Bhalla further acknowledged the invaluable role played by parents, whose sacrifices, encouragement, and unwavering support made this achievement possible.
He extended appreciation to the faculty for their guidance and mentorship, which have built strong intellectual and moral foundations in the students.
