Dimapur, Nov. 20: Some unidentified gunmen opened fire at a showroom located at Tajen Ao Road in Dimapur on Nov. 20 evening.
The Dimapur police confirmed that a total five rounds were fired at Riven Honda showroom by some individuals at around 5 pm on Tuesday. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The reason for the shooting was not known at the time this report was being filed.
The incident happened when five of Riven Honda employees were inside the showroom. The gunmen opened fire from outside, damaging some portion of the glass doors. They fled the scene before the employees could identify them, reports said.
The police said it has initiated an investigation into the incident and a complaint would be filed at the West Police Station against the unknown gunmen.
Public Action Committee condemns shooting
The Public Action Committee (PAC) of the Naga Council of Dimapur has condemned the shooting incident at Riven Honda, which deals in motorbikes, on Nov. 20.
According to the statement by PAC convener Vekhosayi Nyekha and co-convener K Ghokheto Chophy on Tuesday, “The situation is going from bad to worse.” It has appealed to the state’s security forces to be more vigilant in order to catch the criminals and prosecute them. It also appealed to the public to respond immediately by reporting to the police with proper information if such incidence occurs in their vicinity.
The statement also said that the Naga political groups were said to be demanding money even from private buildings and church constructions which is demeaning the Naga cause.
The PAC has conducting an emergency meeting at 3 pm on Nov. 21 at Naga Council office. All has requested all its members, tribals hohos presidents, DUCCF, NWHD, GBs Union, BAN, and DCCI to attend the meeting. It added that the meeting has been convened to discuss on immediate steps to be taken to control the prevailing situation.
An explanation call will be served to the absentees, it informed.
