Dimapur, September 9 : Noting what it called the “various unfortunate or unwanted elements / incidents occurring owing to rampant child trafficking, child violence, child abuse and suicides,” the Eastern Nagaland People’s Union of Dimapur (ENPUD) has appealed for registration. A note from the ENPUD on Friday appealed to all its tribal units “to keep vigilant on this issue and to strictly adhere to its decision pertaining to child domestic helper coming from the eastern parts of Nagaland to stay in Dimapur.” The ENPUD has requested parents and guardians and employers, house owners, or caretakers of the “child / domestic helper” belonging to the eastern regions who are being kept or employed with them within Dimapur to kindly ‘make correspondence’ with respective tribal units or ENPUD/ENWOD/ENSUD. They are requested to immediately register the child / domestic helper, provided with recent passport photographs with tribal unions of the ENPUD in their respective area. “This notification / appeal should not be misconstrued but be considered as an aim to solely protect / prevent the child or domestic helper from any form of discrimination, abuse, neglect, exploitation, torture, violence or trafficking while they are being kept as helpers or wards,” the note stated. For correspondence, the following persons may be contacted: Presidents / GS (tribal units of ENPUD): Chang - 9862276427, Konyak - 9612165174, Khiamnyuingan - 9436825412, Phom -9436004577, Sangtam and Yimchunger – 9862946900; ENPUD -9612166328, 8974849080 and 9402481298; ENSUD / ENWOD – 8414890716 and 9862171049.
