Diphu, July 18 (EMN): The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang on Monday performed a groundbreaking ceremony (bhoomi pujan) for start of preliminary works of a flyover in Diphu town by the department.
After performing the Bhoomi pujan, the CEM said, “In order to ease the problem of traffic jams in Diphu town with the ever-increasing number of vehicles on the roads, the KAAC has considered having one flyover in Diphu town. I have requested Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma in this regard and he has consented to our plea. A 4- lane flyover from Forest East Division to Post office will be constructed. The flyover will be inaugurated before the 2024 Parliamentary election. It is a more than 200 crores project”.
The CEM also said, “Through this media platform I want to say that if the need arises some portion of the land of some individuals may go. But I humbly urge the land owners not to create problems so that the project can be completed on time.”
Executive Engineer, PWD Diphu (Roads) Division, Dipak Das said from today, the department is starting the preliminary works like pile foundation load test. After preliminary works are completed the construction work will be taken over by the construction company. The length of the flyover from Forest East Division to the Post office is 1.02 km and the period of completion is one and half years i.e. 18 months.
Das also said to solve the traffic congestion that will be experienced during the construction period, the PWD department will find another diversion for vehicular movement.
