Imphal, Nov. 25 (EMN): Four persons including a groom and three of his colleagues died in a road accident in Manipur’s Thoubal district around 2 pm on Sat., sources said.
Sources said the day’s incident occurred at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai area, about 30 km south of Imphal when a 407 mini truck collided with a car carrying the groom and his colleagues when they were heading towards their native place- Khekman Maning Leikai after attending Mangani Chakkouba, a traditional Manipuri feast organised five days after their marriage, at the bride’s place at Yairipok Huidrom around noon.
According to information, the groom Maibam Meghachandra(18) and three of his colleagues died on the spot while three others reportedly sustained serious injuries.
The injured persons identified as O Premkumar of Thoubal Okram, M Malemnganba of Thoubal Ningombam and M Praveen of Thoubal Khekman have been taken to the district hospital and later shifted to a well equipped health centre in Imphal for further treatment.
The deceased are M Meghachandra, Th Jupiter, A Amujao who are all from Khekman and Md Apik of Keibung.
