IMPHAL, June 18: A team of D company of 54 battalion BSF deployed in Thoubal districts recovered an Indian made hand grenade during its routine patrol Waba Chingkgong area from Litan Makhong of Heirok Part-II of Thoubal District at around 10.40 am on Saturday, reports said. Later, a bomb disposal team arrived at the spot and retrieved the grenade and destroyed at a nearby paddy field at around 11.30 am, safely, report said. No armed group operating here or individuals has claimed responsibility for placing of the grenade at the time of filling this report. In another development, troops of the 12 Assam Rifles based on specific intelligence regarding drug peddling on NH 102, apprehended a drug peddler carrying 860 numbers of WY tablets, worth Rupees 4.30 Lakhs at Khudengthabi check post in Chandel district of Manipur state on Thursday, according to a press release. The apprehender was identified as Ms Nengneikin Khongsai daughter of Lamhoi Khongsai (19) of Tengnoupal under Chandel district. The apprehendee along with the recovered item has been handed over to the Moreh Police Station,it added.
