On this peculiar and most remarkable occasion in the state Nagaland. Today, I bring 70th Phom Day Greetings to people of the state and to my fellow citizens all around the globe.
I stand here with pride and honour as Phom citizen to say that this is the day that the Lord has made and whereby our forefathers made their mind to pledge and take unanimous decision to stop the culture of headhunting, shun violence and proclaim existence and calm environment during the darkest period in Phom history.
The unconditional sacrifice and committed heart bestowed in this most dangerous mission by our forefathers back in late 40's & 50's has made us to see the light from darkness, where each and every individual is liable to take forward the "Message of Peace and Harmony" to every land on Earth. The fearless, courageous and wisest elders of those days are the real heroes even to this day.
Therefore, the present-day generation and upcoming generation must continue to uphold the spirit of oneness, belongingness and above all the Love among each other in all walks of life by self-motivation and inspiration through this day to make our land a better place to live in.
Back in those days our Phom society was enveloped with fear and insecurity, glorifying killings and praising for inhumanity, while neighbouring societies were excelling and advancing with modern civilisation by embracing Christianity, education and transforming the living standard. However, on seeing the massive growth and scaling exceptionally in every field of our society post 6th June 1952. I thank thee and our forefathers for having a dream for their offspring’s that is Us the “ Fortunate Generation”.
In today’s scenario, where we see a downfall and divided Naga in many aspects, I call upon the Phom Day Commission to lead the front to formulate and make a historic strategy to educate the minds of our people for coming to an understanding and finding an amicable solution to the Fractured Naga Society. The day has come for our people to play an important role by initiating a Peace Process Mission by citing Phom Day as a living example (the Historic Consensus Agreement) that has enabled us to see the brighter world and most significantly emulated Unity & Victory in our Land Called “Phom”.
Keeping this misson in our hearts, let us all become a channel of blessings to our fellow Naga’s and share each other’s contribution for a productive and flourishing society.
Taking this moment as a privilege, I appeal and encourage, challenge the young intellectuals and the student’s community to come forward and research the Phom Day and make our Land an institution of “Peace and Research Centre” to the state and beyond.
