Mokokchung, Nov. 27 (EMN): Government Primary School Imrongtema, the oldest school in Mongsenyimti village under Mokokchung district celebrated its glorious 75th anniversary at the school premise on Tuesday with the EAC Medziphema, Sentilong Ozukum as the main speaker.
Ozukum, while speaking at the functioning on the topic, 'sparking the future', said that the conventional method of teaching which is reading, writing and solving sum now become an archaic system and thus, emphasised on embracing a new method of teaching if we want to improve and catch up with the rest of the world in the field of education. He advocated for adopting the method of a 4C system which he elaborated as " ‘Collaboration, Creativity, Critical thinking and Communication (C4)".
While motivating the students to be a successful person in life, Ozukum asked them to study with zeal and determination so that they can contribute to the society. He said that if they study diligently, then would be use their innate talents to achieve great things in life and wouldn't have to depend on government jobs only.
Earlier, the welcome address was said by I. Temsumangyang, Teacher in-charge GPS Imrongtema. A minute silence was also observed as a mark of tribute for the departed souls.
Meanwhile, the jubilee souvenir was released by L. Alemtemsü Ao, Area Education Officer (AEO) Mokokchung.
Others who spoke at the programme were M Lima Ozükum,; T Yanger Ozükum, chairman village education committee; SO Meren Pongen, alumnus; C. Lima Ozükum, president Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang and R. Bendangyapang Ao, asst. headmaster govt. high school Mongsenyimti.
