Govt. Primary School, Changpang village, Wokha, on November 27.
- DIMAPUR — Govt.
Primary School (GPS), Changpang village, Wokha district, celebrated its 75th
anniversary on November 27 in the school compound. The event was attended by
alumni, past teachers, village authorities, and well wishers.
- According to an update, it had Y James Humtsoe,
sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) Bhandari, as the guest of honour.
- Humtsoe, speaking on the occasion, stated that as they
celebrated the jubilee, it was important to reflect on the past 75 years,
correct any mistakes, if there were any, and move forward in order to shine
brighter in the future.
- He exhorted the people not to blame each other but to work
shoulder to shoulder to bring more students into the school in order to avoid
closure or merger by the authorities.
- Addressing the problem of the lack of teachers in the
school, he stated that some teachers who are not sincere in their jobs have
good connections, making it very difficult to discipline them. However, he
assured the people not to worry, as henceforth, there would be no shortage of
teachers in schools, with the Department set to introduce the Teachers
Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) in all schools in Nagaland starting early
next year.
- He appealed for cooperation from all parents, teachers, the
SMC, and the general public as important stakeholders in education.
- Nzanbemo Yanthan, chairman of Changpang Village Council,
extended jubilee greetings. Jubilee greetings were also given by Jerry Patton,
retired additional director of Horticulture department and son of the school’s
first teacher, Lt. Nlongtsu Patton, of Akuk village.
- Patton, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the
organising committee for having him in the programme on behalf of his father.
He also conveyed blessings and wished a bright future for the school and the
people of the village on behalf of his father.
