GPRN/NSCN has vowed to protect the rights of the Nagas and “make every possible ways to solve the problem by involving the thoughts and aspirations of every section of Nagas”.
The GPRN/NSCN in a press release said that what actually has gone wrong or misguided the Nagas under the ‘shadow’ of the Naga political talks has been that it has taken all the Nagas on the giant wheel and keep circling with a mere note that the ‘talk is going on in the right direction’ for the past 17 years. “Nagas do not need a peace accord or any solution within the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. What Nagas need is a political solution that may safeguard the future of the younger generations,” asserted the GPRN/NSCN. “If the Government of India is not going to allow us to integrate then why not we try to help each other to solve our different problems with different means?” opinionated the statement. It however said that the “Manipuri Nagas” have their political rights and representation in Manipur government as well as MPs at the centre. “So, some sections of it coming to Nagaland and claiming the champion of Naga uniqueness will usher in no gain both for the Nagas and them.” The GPRN/NSCN then said it acknowledged the good work and efforts for a better future but it will not tolerate to alter its rights at the peril. According to the GPRN/NSCN, the Nagas’ struggle for freedom has been derailed with the slogan for integration for the last two decades. “For how long should the Nagas wait?” it asked while adding, “Only the NSCN-IM members and the Government of India know”.
“Therefore, GPRN/NSCN feels that there will not be a rumor or a point of extra uniqueness for which Nagas should be cautious of.” The statement then said, “It is a people’s movement and so every right thinking Naga has a right to express their thoughts without hesitation or being cautious.”
