- DIMAPUR — Founding
members of the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) reaffirmed their commitment to Naga
unity and a peaceful resolution to the Indo-Naga political issue during a
meeting with Government of India (GoI) representative AK Mishra on Friday.
- A press release issued by the Naga group informed that the
meeting took place in Dimapur and included a 20-member delegation led
by senior leaders Azheto Chophi and C Singson.
- “The meeting was a reflection on the historic developments
of 22nd November 2007 at Hovishe village, which laid the foundation of the
GPRN/NSCN (Unification). Senior leaders who were present during that pivotal
moment 18 years ago came together to meet with the GoI’s representative on
Friday,” it stated.

- The leaders presented “a concise yet comprehensive” account
of the events leading up to the formation of the Unification group, it added.
“They emphasised that their intent was never to form a separate group or incite
factionalism among the Naga National workers. Instead, they reiterated their
enduring commitment to unity and a peaceful, amicable resolution of the
Indo-Naga political issue.”
- During the interaction, the delegation maintained that
although it took time to consolidate the Naga political groups and initiate
formal dialogue with the Centre, the core intent remained unchanged—a united
approach to the peace process.
- Accordingly, they appealed to Mishra to convey to the prime
minister and union home minister that the Naga people would speak in one voice
once a political roadmap is finalised.
- “The founding leaders assured the GoI representative that
there are no differences or disputes regarding any matters that have already
been negotiated and settled with the government of India.
- “AK Mishra expressed his deep satisfaction in meeting the
senior leaders of the GPRN/NSCN (Unification), acknowledging their significant
contributions to the Naga political movement over nearly five decades,” it
added.
