GPRN/NSCN (U) mourns the demise of Col. Yankiu, who served the Naga national movement for 31 years.

DIMAPUR — The General Headquarters, Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN (U), has expressed grief over the demise of Col. Yankiu (Army No. 17548), son of Kiutsu of the Longtsunger Yimkhung Region, on Saturday.
In a condolence message, Brig. Khuiho Yeptho, GSO-I (Admn), GHQ, Naga Army, stated that Col. Yankiu was enrolled in the national service on February 15, 1994, and served the nation for 31 years with full commitment to the cause of the Naga national movement until his last breath.

It stated that his impressive records of service and dedication to the Naga nation would be cherished in the pages of Naga history.
"On behalf of all the rank and file of the Naga Army, we salute the brave departed comrade," the message read, adding that "service to one's nation that ends till the last breath is the highest form of patriotism." It stated that in his untimely demise, the nation had lost one of the most promising officers.
The GPRN/NSCN conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family members and prayed that the Almighty God grant solace and comfort at this time of grief.
