DIMAPUR, AUGUST 1
The GPRN/NSCN has detained ACAUT secretary and East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) president Solomon L Awomi on July 31 following certain allegations leveled against him. The detention comes in the midst of GPRN/NSCN declaration de-recognizing ACAUT Nagaland on July 31,
On receiving the news about the detention, around eight office bearers of EDBA rushed to Camp Khehoi and met GPRN/NSCN home secretary Ghukiho T Jimo to request for release of Solomon.
Clarifying on detention of Solomon, the GPRN/NSCN home secretary said based on complaints received from some members of public, Solomon was called to their designated camp at Khehoi on July 31 to clarify certain allegations leveled against him and not because he is a member of ACAUT.
The ACAUT members sought to know why only Solomon was detained when he had gone along with another member of ACAUT to the GPRN/NSCN camp, creating confusion and worrying the family members.
The ACAUT members said as per information received Solomon was detained as he is a member of ACAUT while insisting upon the GPRN/NSCN to detain the entire members of ACAUT too. The GPRN/NSCN denied that Solomon was detained as he is a member of ACAUT and described it ‘false’ and ‘baseless’ allegation.
The GPRN/NSCN home secretary had also produced a written clarification letter signed by Solomon today stating that he was called by the GPRN/NSCN to its designated camp Khehoi to clarify on certain allegations leveled against him by members of some public in Dimapur. In the letter, Solomon clarified that he has been misunderstood owing to lack of communication. He also stated that Naga political issue is a genuine cause which he upholds in his best capacity and will continue to support and believe in early political solution.
He further clarified that the letter of ACAUT dated 25th April 2014 to all HoDs and DDOs of Nagaland government cautioning against paying taxes to NPGs was sent in his absence and that he was informed about it through phone by other ACAUT members. He also stated that his signature was put by other ACAUT members on his behalf.
Solomon also mentioned in his letter that he objected to the use of the word ‘Anti-Naga’ for deduction of salaries of employees for NPGs. He made it clear that he did not authorize the use of harsh language against Nagaland government employees or NPGs.
The ACAUT has appealed to GPRN/NSCN to release Solomon on humanitarian ground as his wife had just delivered a baby through caesarean and is still in hospital. The GPRN/NSCN home secretary said he will be released tomorrow while assuring that he is in safe hands under their custody. The committee will have a meeting in the first hour tomorrow to discuss his release.
