Dimapur, July 20 (EMN): The GPRN/NSCN today denied the earlier allegation by ACAUT in local dailies that one of its members had threatened and harassed the members of the DUCCF and instead claimed that it is a misrepresentation of the issue to mislead the people.
A press note from the MIP of the group stated , “That Col. Tokugha in no way has threatened/harassed any of the member(s) of DUCCF, which the President of DUCCF himself admitted by stating to his fellow office bearers that Col. Tokugha has been dealing with them in a most friendly atmosphere. Rather, on 11th July, 2017 while Col. Tokugha was having a meeting with DUCCF, some member(s) of DUCCF present in the meeting acted as an agent of Indian security services by informing Assam Rifles To arrest Col. Tokugha, which he escaped. Again, on 18th July, 2017 the same informer(s) from DUCCF informed Assam Rifles about the presence of Col. Tokugha in his residence which the Assam Rifles failed to identify his house. Col. Tokugha has only made clear to the DUCCF that if the Federation are in no position to pay taxation then they have to personally visit Government Headquarter to clarify their stand to the higher government officials. As such the question of threatening, harassment and to confine DUCCF members in Khehoyi Camp as claimed by ACAUT is nothing but misrepresentation of facts of the present issue ( created by ACAUT & DUCCF) to mislead and misguide the people, towards their anti-Naga movement. “
The press release further stated that from the initial period of the Naga movement, “The Government has been levying tax and this ACAUT has no authority to stop the government to levy taxes on its subject; nor have they any authority to stop or convinced the public from paying taxation, which is liability of every citizen of a nation.”
It also reminded ACAUT that in “1951 Plebiscite, the Naga People have Pledge to support the Naga Movement by way of providing ration and to physically involved in the movement. The GPRN/NSCN question the so-called ACAUT to come out with evidence as to when was this Pledged (made in 1951 Plebiscite) withdrawn. Rather, the MIP advice ACAUT to stop anti-Naga activities.”
The NPG also warned that if any of its members face any” untoward incident” related to the present issue then it will hold the DUCCF responsible.
