DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2
THE GPRN/NSCN through its MIP has issued a press statement clarifying itself with regard to the September 1 incident in which one Pukhato Aye of Ahoto village was accorded capital punishment. The statement verbatim is reproduced below. The GPRN/NSCN would like to clarify on the recent capital punishment meted out to Mr. Pukhato Aye of Ahoto Village, an informer of the Khaplang boys on the night of September, 2013.
The general public is aware of the fact that, many cadres of the GPRN/NSCN had been shot death without any reasons by the Khaplang boys in the past few months. Many families have been rendered widows and orphans, many homes have been raided in the middle of the night by the Khaplang rogues in search of our cadres. And till date, the GPRN/NSCN has been restraining our cadres from retaliating, keeping in mind the reconciliation process that is painstakingly being motioned by every right thinking Naga.
Pukhato is directly responsible for the deaths of our members, Deputy Secretary Akato who was murdered on the 22nd of July, 2013, and Lieut. Col. Tokikhe, murdered on the 18th of August, 2013. There are many more instances where he had acted as the mole behind shooting incidents in and around Dimapur town. He had been warned to refrain himself from such activities, but continued without paying heed to it. The GPRN/NSCN had no option but to award him with capital punishment.
