DIMAPUR, MARCH 30
The Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN, N. Kitovi Zhimomi on March 28 called upon the Ao ‘national workers’ at his official residence at council headquarters and discussed on the national policy with special regards to the Ao people and their contributions. According to a press note from the MIP, GPRN/NSCN, in his brief message to the Aos, the Ato Kilonser stated that, it would be unwise on his part to preach or teach the Ao community about Naga nationalism or their contributions towards it, as Aos have always been one of the frontrunners and pioneering people towards the social changes of the Naga society. Urging the Ao people to be firm in their commitments, Kitovi said that it would be unwise on their parts if they were to remain silent and suppressed, because it requires not just the wisdom of a leader in nation building, but a collective wisdom and effort of every member that helps in strengthening a leader in making decisions for a brighter Nation building. The Ato Kilonser further encouraged the Ao national workers to go back to their community and share ideas on their aspiration, dreams and future and added, “I want to see that Ao people alone decide the future of the Aos’.
In a separate statement, Moa Walling, secretary attached to the collective leadership stated that ‘for the past ten years or a little more, Aos in general has participated little or none with the GPRN/NSCN’. Adding that from the civil wing, every possible ways have been tried and utilized to negotiate or come about with a co-ordination, yet yielding no result, which showed that something seems to be wrong within the community, especially under Mokokchung district, and assured that more efforts will be given to initiate that every member from the Ao community will be able to speak their minds out. The secretary also said it is not against any individual, group, union or organization, but an initiative towards restoring the glory and unity of the Ao people, an endeavour to determine the future of the Aos.
