DIMAPUR — Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) organised a graduation day for the students of Fashion Technology department on August 22 on the theme “Allure-simple fashion millage” with the additional secretary of Higher and Technical Education, Sentiyanger Pongen, as the special guest.
Speaking at the programme, Sentiyanger congratulated all the graduating students and stated that a skill earned would make them a stronger person. He added that the more skills one possess would increase the chance of survival in today's competitive world.
He advised the students to strive for the best to make their dreams come true.
“We all have struggle in life but with greater determination, we can overcome that obstacle standing in our way. There are times when we find situation very demanding but always believe in hard work and you will succeed,” Pongen said.
He further urged the students to dream big and mentioned that unless ‘you have big dreams it is difficult to achieve our goals in life.’
The principal of GPK, Keyiekhru Rhutso, in his welcome address, informed that Government Polytechnic Kohima was established in the year 1992 and Fashion Technology Department was introduced in the year 2004.
He highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world came to a standstill, the institution was able to produce one lakh surgical masks, hand gloves and bed sheets which were distributed free of cost to the frontline workers with generous contribution from well-wishers, faculty members and students.
