Dimapur, August 4: State Kisan Morcha, BJP Nagaland has said the BJP led NDA government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given priority to the farmers and agriculture. The government has given a gift to the farmers of the country and also given a rebate of Rs 125 per bag of DAP fertilizer, Rs 250 per bag rebate on MOP fertilizers and Rs 50 per bag on NPK fertilizers, thus the farmers of the country will be getting a rebate of Rs 4500 crore.
Neeraj Kala, Treasurer & In-charge of Media & Publication, State Kisan Morcha (Nagaland) in a statement said, such rebate per bag of fertilizer was never ever given by anybody.“The farmers of this country utilize 1 crore ton of DAP, 92 lakh ton of NPK and 25 lakh ton of MOP every year to produce their crops. The rebates given on the fertilizers will reduce the agricultural loans of 18,278 crores. To give facilities to villagers like that of cities, the Government has made provisions of 80 lakh for every village and 21 crore for town, in the budget.”
The Government has made a target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Kala informed, for agriculture, the government has targeted 31 May 2018 to provide electricity to all villages, production of Neem coated Urea and to open 4 closed down factories. The government has set 31 March 207 as the target for providing Mrida Health Cards to 14 crore families of farmers and made provision or Rs 5600 crore to compensate the farmers during natural calamities and seasonal losses on agricultural crops. Under Pradhan Mantri Sinchai Yojana, there is provision of more than double of what was provided in the previous year to that the irrigation water reaches every field, besides there is a provision of Rs 2000 crore under NABARD’s Irrigation Scheme (Crops Fund).
Kala said, the government has also made provision for purchasing the agricultural produce through FCI’s online market. Under MNREGA, there is provision of maximum Rs 38500 to construct 5 lakhs ponds/wells and 10 lakhs compost pits. In this financial year’s budget, Modiji has made a provision of Rs 1,70,00, 000 crore to increase production through Irrigation Projects which has been closed for long by 31 March 2017. There is a provision in the budget to connect 556 Mandis of the entire country through e-trading so that farmers get proper price for their produce and they are free from middle-men and also get relief from the losses incurred due to ups and downs of market rates.
“There is a provision of Rs 850 crore for 4 big Diary Projects. There is a provision of 100% FDI in food processing so that the farmers’ children get more opportunities for employment. To stop the ups and downs in the prices of dal, the government has made fund provision of Rs 900 crores. A 24-hour Kisan Channel has been launched so that farmers get new information about farming.”
