Imphal, April 7 (EMN): First round talk between the Churachandpur based Joint Action Committee Against Anti Tribal (JACAATB) and the state government of Manipur with the new Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh in the chair was held at the latter secretariat on Friday.
In the day’s talk, Chief Minister Biren Singh expressed his desire to let the families of the victims perform the last rites to the dead bodies considering the mental trauma families of the victims might be having which cannot be measured, official sources said. Saying that there is no country/state or even a family without any problem, Biren said any crisis or any problem can be resolved through a series of meetings.On the other hand the JACAATB also submitted a charter of demands to the government during the day’s meet wherein both sides agreed to have a next round of talk tentatively on April 10 after a brief discussion.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh headed the state team which includes Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, Agriculture/Veterinary Minister V Hangkhanlian, Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen, Tribal Development & Hills Minister N Kayisii, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, DGP LM Khaute, Law Secretary Th Kamini Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Churachandpur R Sudhan while the 11 member delegation of the JACAATB was led by its Chief Convenor H Mangchinkhup. Besides representatives of various tribal bodies and organisations including Young Paite Association, United Zou Organisation, Tedim Chin Union, Mizo People Convention also attended.
On Thursday, Ambassador of India to Myanmar Vikram Misri called on Chief Minister N Biren Singh today at his office chamber. In the meeting both have discussed about the Indo-Myanmar trade and International relations between the South-East Asian countries. They also stressed on finding the ways to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, Chief Minister also pointed out the border issue with Myanmar and appealed to the Ambassador Vikram Misri to take up the matter with the Myanmar Government. Vikram Misri assured the Chief Minister that he would put up the matter at the appropriate level.
