Dimapur, June 13 : Referring to article published in a sections of local media on June 12 captioned "Clarification sought from Directorate State Lotteries", the Directorate of Nagaland State Lotteries has clarified that the sale and promotion of lotteries in the country are regulated by provision of the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998 and the Lotteries (Regulation) Rules, 2010.
No firm or individual is permitted to market lotteries in the State of Nagaland without observing prescribed procedures and a permit issued by the Director, Nagaland State Lotteries, stated a press note issued by Limawabang Jamir, Director, Nagaland State Lotteries.
“ This office has not issued any permit to any person/ party for sale of any form of lottery ticket in Nagaland during the recent times. Since no permit has been issued to any firm or individual to market lotteries in the State of Nagaland, all sales of lotteries in the State of Nagaland are illegal. In order to check illegal lottery sales in the State, Government has issued guidelines to all DCs/ ADCs and SPs. Government (vide 0.M. No.DSL-17-19/2000-0l(Pt-III) dated 05.10.2015) has issued Public Notice regarding sale of illegal lotteries in the State which was published in all leading local newspapers on 06.10.2015.”
The department reminded that the guidelines and instructions are issued by the Government from time to time for information and reference of all concerned authorities.
