State Home Commissioner today issued a press note to dispel doubts as to what status late Rani Gaidinliu was accorded by the Government of Nagaland during her lifetime.
According to the note, the facilities provided to her by the Government of Nagaland from 1966 till her death on February 17, 1993 were :
1. After she agreed to come over-ground in January 1966, the Government of Nagaland allotted her a Type V Quarter complete with facilities for body guards and attendance at Forest Colony.
2. Monthly relief and rehabilitation grant sanctioned by the home department, Government of Nagaland.
3. Monthly ration by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
4. Monthly vehicle maintenance & petrol re-imbursement by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
5. Travelling expenditure sanctioned by the Home Department, Government of Nagaland.
6. A Personal Secretary in the rank of UDA attached to her for her official work whose salary was paid by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima. More of page 5
7. Two lady attendants (on contingency basis) whose salaries were paid by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
8. One Grade IV (Peon) for her residential official duty whose salary was paid by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
9. One driver whose salary was paid by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
10. House Guards provided by Nagaland Police.
11. One vehicle (Jeep).
12. The following persons served as Personal Assistants to Rani Gaidinliu.
a. Shri Q. Newmai, Helper cum Assistant (1966).
b. Shri Keiziang Pamei, Helper cum Assistant (1967-68).
c. Shri Gangluwang, Regular PA (1968-1973).
d. Shri DP Panmei, Regular PA (1973-75)
e. Shri Achun Kamei, Regular PA (1975-77).
f. Shri Ramkuiwangbe, Regular PA (1977-80).
g. Shri Abuan Kamei, Regular PA (1980-93).
The note also added that all travel expenses related to her visits to the national capital New Delhi were borne by State government.
