A four-day free medical camp, initiated by Governor P.B. Acharya and motivated by the Indian National Fellowship Centre Mumbai, a group of specialized doctors got underway today at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK).
Dr Suparna Nirgudkar (MD Med) Consultant Physician and intensivist as the team leader has to her credit 20 years experience in treating diabetes, tuberculosis, other infectious diseases and critically ill patients.
Dr Umesh Borwankar (MS Surgery) with over 25 years of experience in the field of general surgery and laparoscopic surgery has participated in various medical camps. Dr Nitin Narawane MD (Med) DM (gastroenterology) (Upper GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy) over 20 years of experience in gastroenterology while Dr Ninu Almel, MS (Opthalmology) over 15 years of experience in cataract surgery has held eye camps in Thane district; Dr Manjiri Ranade (MD Anaesthesia) has 15 years of experience as an Anaesthetist and is now practicing mainly as pain management specialist for the treatment of chronic pain and Dr Nilima Dumbre (BHMS) is described as a very enthusiastic and hardworking doctor.
On the first day of the camp, forty three patients including 29 females and 13 males were treated and two surgeries performed on one case of cholicystectomy and another appendicectomy.
The team is conducting a free surgery to the needy patients and distributing free medicines to deserving patients. Interested public have been informed to avail the opportunity of free consultation from the visiting doctors.
