Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): The governor’s award for academic distinction to school students will be given away on May 21. The government’s publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates on Tuesday informing about the award ceremony.
The ceremony to present the Governor’s Award to toppers including subject toppers in MIL and Skill Education subjects, besides high school leaving certificate (HSLC) and higher secondary school leaving certificate (HSSLC) board rank holders for 2019 is scheduled to be held on May 21 at the Raj Bhavan in Kohima.
The ceremony is at 11:00 am, the updates stated. The governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya will give away the awards, the IPR stated.
Students who rank in the top-20 HSLC examination; Top-10 ranked students of the three streams of HSSLC; subject toppers in MIL and Skill Education of both HSLC and HSSLC; and the respective head of institutions from where they graduated, along with one parent of the student have been invited to attend the function, the updates stated.
The ‘rank holders’ are to attend the function in their respective school uniforms. All the invitees are to reach the venue by 10:30 am and be seated by 10:45 am, the updates stated.
Diocese of Kohima
The diocese of Kohima congratulates the successful candidates of HSLC and HSSLC examinations and has appreciated the efforts put in by the students, teachers, parents and school management.
A note from the diocese’s commission for education on Tuesday acknowledged the ‘efficiency and promptness’ of the Nagaland Board of School Education ‘for bringing out the results in time.’
The diocese has announced a felicitation for rank holders, subject toppers of all major subjects of the HSLC and HSSLC from Catholic schools in Nagaland, along with selected teachers for their meritorious services. The event is on May 11 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph hr. sec. school, at Chumukedima in Dimapur.
All the selected teachers, rank holders and subject toppers from Catholic schools along with their parents are invited to the programme. Limasunep Jamir, commissioner of Dimapur Police, and Elias T Lotha, transport commissioner, will give away the awards, the updates stated.
Phek students
The Phek Students’ Union (PSU) organised a felicitation programme for successful HSSLC and HSLC candidates, on May 6 at Phek village.
Speaking during the occasion, Niekhozolu Venuh, JEO at the District Education Office of Phek, congratulated the successful candidates and wished them more success in their future endeavours. She called upon the students to resist negative behaviour in their journey, and to choose the right profession.
